Widmer Brothers Drifter Pale Ale

February 9th, 2011 by in Walt Disney World Beer Reviews

Earlier today I picked up a couple of new beers; the first one I’m trying is Widmer Brothers Drifter.  Although it’s classified as a pale ale, it’s fairly dark but extremely clear.  Drifter has a very strong grapefruit scent and the citrus theme continues once sipped.  It’s not too sweet and has a nice bitter finish.  This, friends, is a good beer and is served at multiple Walt Disney World locations.

Definitely enjoyed this when I had it at 50’s Prime Time. But my bartender was a complete idiot and when I asked what kind of beer it was he like and said ‘It’s dark….REAL dark!’ Asked if compared to a Guinness his answer was ‘nooooo def heavier.’ Then proceeded to pour me this beauty. I think he needs to find a new job.

Just picked up a 6 myself this evening. I remembered it from the 15 Beers for 15 Years booth at this year’s Food & Wine Festival. Very good. Seems smoother from a bottle than I remember it on tap at F&W. Agree this would be the complete opposite style from Guiness. Drink up!
