A Happy Holiday season to you all! This certainly is my favorite time of year. I hope it is yours too! And may yours be filled with peppermint cocoa, candy canes, kisses under the mistletoe and getting completely trashed and embarrassing yourself in front of the family because you had too much of this amazing holiday ale I’m about to review! I have to admit, I was a little hesitant to love Lagunitas anymore. I know, I’m shocked too! But [ Read More ]
Happy Turkey Day! After an eventful day I’m kicking off the Christmas season with an Abita Christmas Ale! I think this one is a little stronger than last year’s version. It is, however, generally the same as last year’s even though the recipe changes from year to year. I may be having a few more of these as my sister has talked me into going to Walmart tonight. Happy Thanksgiving from all of us at Beers and Ears!
Next beer in the winter sampler was the Chocolate Bock. This one was different but I liked it! After my first sip, I immediately said it tasted exactly like Hershey’s Syrup. From the bottle… Our coffee stout is a full-bodied, rich stout that supports the espresso character of the coffee. We use 1.5 pounds of Sumatran coffee per barrel. Rich [ Read More ]
Next up for Patrick and I to review is the Brewer’s Collection Booth at Food & Wine! Instead of attempting to taste every beer in one sitting, we tried to spread out the tastings throughout the weekend. Somehow though, there was one visit to the booth where we actually did try them all…again! Minus the Kolsch…that story is at the bottom of the review. (from left to right) Hövels ~Patrick: This one surprised me. From its appearance, it looked [ Read More ]
Last night I was out and the bartender leans over and says, “You want a little sumpin’ sumpin’?” Fresh! I giggled. And then got REALLY embarrassed when I realized… He was just asking if I wanted another beer. Enter: STOCK PHOTO Lagunitas A Little Sumpin’ Sumpin’ Ale Confession. I actually hated this beer the first time I tasted it. I felt like someone was making me drink cat pee. But for some reason, on a fall evening, and because it [ Read More ]
