Tusker Premium Lager

Tusker Premium Lager

It was a whirlwind Animal Kingdom/Animal Kingdom Lodge day for us and we decided to end our adventure at Victoria Falls Lounge.  We had an awesome bartender to make the event that much more enjoyable. Tusker is brewed by East African Breweries Limited…the behemoth in East African beer.  They own 80% of Kenya Breweries, 98.2% of Uganda Breweries, and a bunch of other related companies.  The brand was first marketed in 1923, shortly after the founder of Kenya Breweries Ltd,  [ Read More ]

Mythos Hellenic Lager

Mythos Lager

I’ve never reviewed any of the Greek beers at Disney??  How is that possible?  Such a disgrace to my heritage. While at Kouzzina on my last trip, I had the option of Mythos or Alpha and this time around I chose the Mythos. Now I will preface this by saying that my Greek people are NOT known for beer brewing.  Ouzo or wine?  Oh you’ll find some beauties.  But beer?  Hmmm…not so much. A little Mythos history… Mythos Brewery is  [ Read More ]

Sapporo

IMG_0044

I went out for my wife’s birthday at a nearby sushi restaurant and ordered a Sapporo to go with our sushi. Sapporo is named for the Japanese city it calls home. The city Sapporo is the fourth-largest city in Japan and was host of the 1972 Winter Olympics. The brewery was founded in 1876 and also produces Yebisu and Sleeman Cream Ale. In 2006 Sapporo brewed a batch of beer using barley that was grown on the International Space Station  [ Read More ]

Sol

IMG_2845

Last night I bought a pick 6 from the grocery store with some new beers to try. One of them is Sol, a staple of the Mexico pavilion in World Showcase. Sol is brewed by the Cuauhtémoc-Moctezuma Brewery; a brewer of many Mexican beers Americans are familiar with including Dos Equis and Tecate. Sol seems to be brewed in the same style as Corona. Sol has a clear straw color with medium head. Not much scent to speak of except for  [ Read More ]

Abita 25th Anniversary Vanilla Doubledog

IMG_1831

It’s no secret I’m a big fan of Abita. One reason is that like Abita, I was born and raised in Louisiana. I didn’t like beer before I started drinking Abita Amber, and over the years since the Abita brewery has given me plenty of different beers to try, including Purple Haze, Jockamo IPA, and Andygator. 2011 was Abita Beer’s 25th anniversary, and to celebrate they brewed up a special version of Turbodog and bottled it only in 22oz bottles.  [ Read More ]

Unibroue Éphémère Blackcurrant

Éphémère Black Currant

We’ve reviewed the most common version of Unibroue Éphémère a couple of times. It’s an ale brewed with apple juice that’s quite tasty. However, we also learned that in Canada Unibroue brews multiple variations of Éphémère with different fruit juices that don’t usually make their way down to the United States. Late last year I found locally a bottle of Éphémère brewed with blackcurrant juice instead of apple juice. However, I’m just now getting around to drinking it. Blackcurrant juice is an ingredient  [ Read More ]

Beers and Ears Version 3.0!

beersandears3

If you visited the site yesterday, you may have seen the “soft opening” of Beers and Ears version 3.0. Over the past couple of months the site has been rebuilt from scratch to take advantage of advances in web technology and to provide a more consistent appearance. The general structure of the site is very similar to the previous version; however, the code behind it has been simplified and is much cleaner. Removing the hodgepodge of various default social media  [ Read More ]

Carlsberg: It’s Danish!

Carlsberg

Don’t call it a comeback; I’ve been here for years.  Still rockin’ my beer;  puttin’ suckers in fear.  You’re right, that’s enough of that.  What I’m trying to say through the poetry that is LL Cool J’s introspective “Mama Said Knock You Out” is that I haven’t been writing here too much lately.  I would like to throw out excuses such as “I was backpacking through Africa,” “I stopped drinking,” or “I have two kids” but those would all be ridiculous  [ Read More ]
