A Trip to the Angry Orchard

Angry Orchard

Recently Disney seems to be adding more gluten free options to its selection. The newly-opened Art of Animation Resort has a few gluten free options in its food court Landscape of Flavors. One of these is the hard cider I’m trying tonight: Angry Orchard Hard Cider from Cleveland, OH. Turns out Angry Orchard has a couple of flavors, but Disney serves the Crisp Apple variety. Angry Orchard Crisp Apple is made with a whole load of apple varieties, including Amere de  [ Read More ]

Unibroue La Terrible

IMG_3588

La Terrible is a brew from Unibroue that you won’t find at Walt Disney World. It’s also one of Kim’s favorites. Unlike most of Unibroue’s offerings, this Belgian Dark Strong Ale comes in a simple black bottle with silver markings. It also lacks the story or legend that accompany the other beers in Unibroue’s lineup. This one’s all about the ale within. La Terrible pours nearly pitch black with a large tan head. It has a clean sweet scent with  [ Read More ]

Walt Disney World Beer List iOS App Updated to 1.4

IMG_0502

We’re still updating our Walt Disney World Beer List iOS App! This update puts the beer reviews we’ve done right in the beer’s details. Instead of searching through the blog section, just pull up a beer and all the reviews for that beer are right there. You can of course still look through all our articles in the blog tab. An iOS app surprise will be coming in the not too distant future, so keep an eye out (sorry Android  [ Read More ]

Houston Beer Fest 2012

IMG_0271

On Saturday, June 9, 2012, the second annual Houston Beer Fest was held in downtown Houston. I couldn’t make it the first year (Lindsay and Jackie tried to go, more on that in a minute), but this year my schedule was wide open and I was outside of City Hall drinking lots of delicious beer. First, let’s briefly go over what happened last year (as recounted to me by Lindsay and Jackie). It was a hot day, as most days  [ Read More ]

Big River Beer Tasting

photo 1

I’m pretty positive before this blog you didn’t really think of Walt Disney World as a place for the beer lover. Alas, now that I pay more attention, try new options and keep up with all these posts, I’m kind of thinking maybe it is! On the Boardwalk.. There is an actual running brewery called the Big River Grille (Brewery)  and I ventured in there one rainy, humid night in May for an evening of laughs, good nachos and some  [ Read More ]

Asahi Super Dry

IMG_0258

Hailing from Japan, Asahi can be found throughout the Japanese pavilion at Epcot. It’s brewed by the Asahi Breweries; Asahi is the number one brewery and soft drink company in Japan. The flagship brew has changed over the years; first it was Asahi Draft, then Asahi Gold, and now it is Asahi Super Dry; the latter started the dry beer craze. You may remember the American brewers producing beers such as Bud Dry; in Japan they love dry beer, but  [ Read More ]

St. George Beer

St. George

Last drink at Dawa Bar (don’t worry, we spaced these over 2 days) was St. George Beer.  The brewery is located in Ethiopia, NOT to be confused with the brewery of the same name in Virginia.  There is no official website though so I couldn’t pull up any additional information to wow you guys with. This was the lightest of the beers we had at Dawa, and it was also the least memorable.  Reminded me a lot of the mass  [ Read More ]

Rogue Voodoo Doughnut

Rogue Voodoo Doughnut

Rogue hit another home run with this quirky combination of doughnut, maple syrup and BACON? I don’t know about you but I can’t pass up any beer in a pink bottle. Speaking of the bottle, I would highly recommend only opening this bottle if you either have plenty of time to drink or reinforcements to share this bottle. Plus it doesn’t hurt that beer goes well with good friends. Beyond the salty bacon with doughnut like sweet breading aroma. You  [ Read More ]

Koko Brown

Koko Brown1

I’m a big fan of coconut flavored food, candy and drinks. I’m also a big fan of Kona Brewing Company. So when I saw this beer which has toasted coconut flavoring at my grocery store, I was intrigued. I wasn’t sure if coconut flavor in a beer would work. I was pleasantly surprised when I had my first sip of this beer. The coconut flavor isn’t overwhelming, but you can definitely taste it. If you’re a fan of Mounds or  [ Read More ]

Meta Beer

Meta Beer

My second beer attempt at Dawa Bar was another Ethiopian brew, Meta. Meta Abo Brewery is located in the town of Sebata, 27 km from Addis Ababa. The brewery was established in 1963 by the Ethiopian Government and Ethiopian private nationals as a share company with a starting capital base of 2 million Birr.  It is the only brewery which gets water from a big reserve of soft spring water (locally known as holy water of St. Abo). The spring  [ Read More ]
