Buffalo Bayou Brewing Co. Gingerbread Stout

December 16th, 2013 by in Other Beer Reviews

The other night my wife went to a “book club” Christmas party (they claim to read the book but it seems to be more of a gossip circle with wine than serious book review). While she was out, I decided an evening of watching a headless horseman decapitating people would be a good idea. So the Ginge and I put on episodes of Fox’s Sleepy Hollow.

“Who’s the Ginge?” you ask.

Buffalo Bayou Gingerbread Stout

From Buffalo Bayou Brewing Co. in Houston comes one of their most popular beers, Gingerbread Stout (the Ginge for short, and yes I just made that up). It’s a tribute to gingerbread as the side of the bottle indicates.

THIS IS BREWED IN HOMAGE TO ALL THE GINGERBREAD MEN AND WOMEN WHO LOST THEIR GUMDROP BUTTONS IN THE WAR AGAINST CHILD SADNESS

The Ginge is a very dark brown with practically no head to speak of, just a few bubbles. Bready with a roasted scent and a bit of cinnamon and spice mixed in. Thick liquid that tastes a bit like gingerbread dipped in coffee.

Gingerbread Stout is quite pleasant to sip on while staying warm on a cold winter’s night. I don’t think you’ll find this one outside of Texas, but if you’re in the area try to grab a taste!
