Lagunitas Cappuccino Stout Review and Ice Cream Float Recipe!

December 7th, 2011 by in Other Beer Reviews

Remember that time I hated a Lagunitas beer? Well it has happened twice in a week. I know, I’ve probably really scared you off from this review, but here’s my disclaimer.

DISCLAIMER: I probably hate ALL stouts and doppelweizen’s if I hated Lagunitas’.

We’ll get to the review of the Lagunitas DoppelWeizen later along with:

-Lagunitas Sumpin’ Wild
-Lagunitas Hop Stoopid
-Lagunitas Maximus
-Lagunitas Wilco Tango Foxtrot
-Lagunitas Censored
-Lagunitas Lucky 13

I literally made that list as a reminder to myself.

What in the heck is this post about anyway? Oh yeah horse snot. I mean Lagunitas Cappuccino Stout. But after tasting, the two could probably be the same thing.

Background: Lagunitas. A stout. 8.8% ABV. Cute puppy on bottle.

I actually tried this little guy because I wanted to make an ice cream float with it. I’ll get to the receipe in a second, but it was the taste of the beer not the vanilla ice cream I hated. I put it to my lips and I wanted to curl up in the fetal position and die. As akin with all my Lagunitas reviews:

Horse snot > Burnt hair > Gasoline > Lag Cappuccino Stout

It literally burned like fire going down my esophagus and when it reached my tummy I felt like gnomes were using tiny, tiny hammers and pounding at the sides.

But hey, if you like stouts, I bet this is the best one. I mean, it is Lagunitas after all. But warning to novice beer drinkers I guess: this isn’t a fun little hoppy pilsner. This is the devil’s brew.

If you decide to take the risk. MAKE THIS:

Lagunitas Cappuccino Stout Float

8 oz Lag cappuccino stout

1 big scoop vanilla ice cream

Reddiwhip

1 unicorn tear

2 tsp pixie dust

Put ice cream in mug, cover with stout, top with whip!

What do you guys think? Am I crazy? Are stouts bomb? Will you try this recipe? Let me know, tweet me @kidanikatie.

Kiss!
