Firestone Walker Double Jack

Firestone Walker is another brewery whose beers are new to Texas this year; not long after their debut, I picked up a bottle of Double Jack, a double IPA.

At this time, Walt Disney World doesn’t serve any Firestone Walker beers, but Disneyland serves Double Barrel Ale (DBA) at the Sonoma Terrace and Carthay Circle. Disneyland also serves Firestone Walker Pivo Hoppy Pils at the Catal Uva Bar. The Uva Bar was one of my favorite spots when I went to Disneyland several years ago. Even though you’re sitting right in the middle of Downtown Disney in Anaheim, it was rather relaxing and the food was also good.

Double Jack is copper colored with a smaller white head. Very sweet nose, more caramel than hops. A bit of citrus in the scent as well. Taste bites a bit more with the bitterness but still very smooth for a double IPA. Lots of caramel sweetness and some citrusy orange flavors. This is 9.5% ABV but the alcohol blends in very well. Very balanced and smooth with medium carbonation.

Double Jack isn’t an incredibly expensive beer; I think it would be a good addition to some Disneyland menus. Carthay Circle, Sonoma Terrace, maybe even Napa Rose could all benefit from some Double Jack.

Firestone Walker is only available in select states mostly on the west and east coasts. A few states in the middle of the country such as Missouri also receive shipments, but your best bets are the coasts. Perhaps one day Firestone Walker will distribute to Florida and Disney World will also pick up some of their beers.
