I’m a big fan of coconut flavored food, candy and drinks. I’m also a big fan of Kona Brewing Company. So when I saw this beer which has toasted coconut flavoring at my grocery store, I was intrigued. I wasn’t sure if coconut flavor in a beer would work. I was pleasantly surprised when I had my first sip of this beer. The coconut flavor isn’t overwhelming, but you can definitely taste it. If you’re a fan of Mounds or [ Read More ]
I had to give this beer a shot since I like Sierra Nevada Pale Ale so much, which recently won the Beers and Ears Walt Disney World Beer Tournament. I guess it also helps that this beer has a pretty wicked label, a label that perhaps should have been saved for some Halloween themed beer. Yeah, I really like the label’s design! Ultimately, I really liked this beer. I didn’t taste too much of a difference from the regular pale [ Read More ]
We’re long overdue for a virtual tasting; in this installment we’re sampling Harp Lager and Kona Fire Rock Pale Ale. Both are found in various locations at the Walt Disney World Resort, and Fire Rock is being featured at the Craft Beer Collection booth during the 2011 Epcot International Food and Wine Festival. Harp Lager: Brian: To me Harp Lager is a bit like the Dumbo ride. There’s nothing wrong with it, but there are a lot more interesting choices. [ Read More ]
I picked up Kona Brewing Company’s season beer, Kona Wailua because I love their Longboard beer commonly found at the Polynesian resort. Kona Wailua is a wheat ale blended with tropical passion fruit and has a slightly sweet/sour flavor. It’s not an overpowering beer and is fairly refreshing, especially in the summer heat (well at least its hot down here in North Carolina). I highly recommend this beer if you are a fan of fruit beer or even if you [ Read More ]
We stopped at a local beer & wine shop in Maryland and saw this car. Not only was it my favorite color; it even has a tap built in! Shock Top beer is great too!
Katie and I ate at Jiko last night and I had a chance to try an Ethiopian beer called Bedele. It was light, smooth and had a great flavor. Give it a try if you are there on your next trip!
From the Tambu Lounge at the Polynesian. I’ve never seen this beer before so I thought I’d give it whirl. I wasn’t expecting a dark beer; I typically don’t like dark beers. This one was a pleasant surprise and goes down with a good flavor. I would get this again.
Find this tasty treat at the Mara at Jambo House at Animal Kingdom Lodge. I enjoyed this beer; the atmosphere of being by Boma (seen in the background) could have helped. Perfect beer for when we were waiting for our room to be ready before hitting the parks.
I was at a restaurant in Cleveland last week and decided to get a little wild in my beer choice. I landed on an ale with apple juice flavor added. The flavor was really different, but I was pleasantly surprised! This beer is very, very sweet and I doubt I could drink more than two in a row, but it has become one of my favorites! It can be found at Total Wine and comes in a four pack.
To followup on Jenn’s post last week, I also gave Tsingtao a try. I loved it! It’s very much like Moosehead, which is another great beer my friend Tom Norton (@nortyuk on twitter) enjoys. I now know what I’ll be getting every time I’m in the China pavilion at EPCOT! I highly recommend it! Thanks go out to Josh (@futureWDWCEO on twitter), who provided this sample to me! Thanks dude!
