I’ve got a fever…. and the only cure? From the Singlecut Beersmiths, who unfortunately I hadn’t heard of until we went to Ginger Man in NYC. The awesome name of the brew caught my eye first, and the review from the server sold me. I mean..how can you NOT want to try a beer that pays homage to the BEST SNL skit ever. What? You’ve never seen the skit??? Please sit back and enjoy…. From the Singlecut site… “We’ve Got [ Read More ]
While on a trip to Peru in May, we (Pat and Jenn) were able to sample the local Peruvian beer, Cusquena. It’s a Peruvian beer that is popular even with the locals. It’s nothing spectacular, just a typical pale lager. However, after hiking for hours upon days in Peru with deprived oxygen on our way to Machu Picchu, seeing this bottle with the gold foil was like heaven at each stop. Not sure if I (Pat) enjoyed it so much [ Read More ]
If you haven’t checked out the craft beer selection in the Italy pavilion lately, you are really missing out on some great new offerings. Wait…craft beer? In the Italy Pavilion? Yes, you heard us right! While down in Disney World for the Food & Wine festival, we were able to get an overview of the Italy beer program from Eric Bandauski. Eric works for the Patina group (who runs all of the Italy restaurants) and is directing the beer program [ Read More ]
Continuing on with our taste testing of the Cabana menu while at my work conference, I knew I had to try the hard cider next. Ciders are hit or miss with me, especially if they’re too sweet, so I wasn’t sure what to expect. This actually was really light and kinda reminded me of a champagne cider, if there’s such a thing. Just a little less carbonation. After drinking it for a bit, it didn’t get too sweet like other [ Read More ]
I know what you’re thinking…”Wait, where can I find Prestige lager on WDW Property? I’ve never seen it before!” While you can’t find Prestige normally on property, you were able to find it at the Haiti booth during the Flower & Garden Festival this past spring. It’s taken me THAT long to write this review about it. Luckily I’ve learned to take notes so I don’t forget what these babies taste like. Since the booth and/or beer might make a [ Read More ]
One of my new favorite beers. You surprised that it’s another wheat beer? Yea, such a surprise right there! Plus the cute tap doesn’t hurt. Makes us laugh each time. The bartenders at this particular bar made the little statue a diaper b/c they were tired or staring at his nakedness. Definitely refreshing on a hot day (shhhh I’m wishing it was still summer). It was a little citrusy with a little spicy kick…maybe coriander? [ Read More ]
For some reason, every time I see Abita, I think of Scott. So while having dinner at Boatwright’s Dining Hall, I had to have the Abita sampler in his honor. I’ve had Purple Haze a bunch of times and enjoy it but never had a chance to try the Amber or the Turbodog until now. Amber: They described this beer as a Munich-style lager and I really enjoyed it. Little hint of caramel and nice and smooth. According to their [ Read More ]
Way back in the day, when I went to a work conference that was being held at the Swan & Dolphin, we meandered over to the Cabana bar probably on a daily basis to grab a drink or two. Yes, my job willingly paid me to go to Disney World. Little did they know what they got themselves into, or that 80% of my time was NOT spent at the conference. But I digress….. At the time Cabana had just [ Read More ]
Jason, one of our excellent beer drinking authors, also runs the Main Street Podcast all about Disney Parks. He asked if any of us would be interested in joining him to talk about the Epcot Food and Wine Festival. Jenn, Patrick, and Scott all were available to have a beer and talk about Food and Wine with a special emphasis on the beer. Here’s the link to Episode 6; you can also find the Main Street Podcast on iTunes and Stitcher!
Last drink at Dawa Bar (don’t worry, we spaced these over 2 days) was St. George Beer. The brewery is located in Ethiopia, NOT to be confused with the brewery of the same name in Virginia. There is no official website though so I couldn’t pull up any additional information to wow you guys with. This was the lightest of the beers we had at Dawa, and it was also the least memorable. Reminded me a lot of the mass [ Read More ]
