Jason reviewed Rogue Voodoo Doughnut a number of weeks ago, and it’s a pretty popular beer because it’s taken me this long to find a bottle of my own. It’s a unique beer: a bacon maple ale that comes in a pink bottle covered with pigs and maple leaves. This is a beer made in collaboration with Voodoo Doughnut, a specialty doughnut shop in Portland and Eugene, Oregon. One of their most popular wares is their bacon maple bar; the [ Read More ]
Rogue hit another home run with this quirky combination of doughnut, maple syrup and BACON? I don’t know about you but I can’t pass up any beer in a pink bottle. Speaking of the bottle, I would highly recommend only opening this bottle if you either have plenty of time to drink or reinforcements to share this bottle. Among them is Rogue Ales, which started as a brewpub in Ashland, OR and has since expanded to a number of brewpubs in Oregon, Washington and California. One of their most popular brews is Dead Guy Ale. It was originally brewed for the Mayan Day of the Dead celebration [ Read More ]
I didn’t have any Red Stripe or other Caribbean beer handy for the Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl Tweetwatch with Ryan’s Disney Film Project. A beer from Rogue seems fitting, however, since Jack Sparrow is quite a rogue. This scotch ale has a chocolate scent; the chocolate theme continues in the taste, being sweet up front and bitter in the finish along with a smoky taste. Can feel the alcohol throughout; the carbonation is very [ Read More ]
Since I’m on a Rogue kick, started off with this beauty….Fell in love right away. Coffee & chocolate flavors were fabulous. Dare I say that it reminded me of Guinness yet slightly smoother and lighter? Hope everyone had a great New Year!
Tried this at the bar last night and it was decent! Smooth yet slightly bitter…a tad too hoppy and heavy for me to want to drink more than one of these a night though. (Must remember to bring point & shoot to the bar to avoid these pics in the future….) A little history from their site… In the early 1990s Dead Guy Ale was created as a private tap sticker to celebrate the Mayan Day of the Dead (November [ Read More ]
