Widmer Drifter Pale Ale

March 3rd, 2011 by in Walt Disney World Beer Reviews

Finally…my last beer from my January Disney trip! Maybe I can actually catch up on all the other ones soon too.

While at the bar waiting for our table at 50’s Prime Time, I had asked the bartender about the empty Drifter bottle on display. The conversation went a little like this:

Me: So how’s the Drifter?
BT: Dark…really dark.
Me: Oh, like a Guinness?
BT: Nah…darker and heavier.
Me: Hmm…I love Guinness, I’ll try one…thanks!

Well…this is what he served me….

Darker and heavier than a Guinness? My friend Chris and I just looked at each other and laughed.

Decided to go along with it anyways and have the beer. I definitely smelled citrus, which I liked. It was surprisingly really good. A little darker and heavier than a pale ale but went down smooth. Will gladly get this again now that I know it’s real description. Thanks for nothing, Mr. Bartender!

** Not to mention he thought I was absolutely batty when I asked him for the bottle so I can take a picture of it, I think he was having an off day. **
