Abita Mardi Gras Bock

April 25th, 2011 by in Other Beer Reviews

Mardi Gras has passed us by this year, but the local supermarket still had some of Abita’s springtime seasonal brew on hand. A helles bock, Abita’s Mardi Gras Bock is a great choice for Mardi Gras; 6.5% ABV in a light, smooth beer works well on the streets of New Orleans during Carnival. This has been my drink of choice during Mardi Gras; a cold six pack from the nearby convenience store will last an entire parade. This amber-colored lager tastes of sweet bread with some bitterness on the back end. Give it a try when you’re standing on St. Charles Ave. for Endymion.
