Leffe Blonde
In our initial article on all the 2011 Epcot Food and Wine Festival beers we accidentally overlooked this one. Oops! Good thing we noticed, because Leffe may be the jewel of the Belgium booth. Leffe, according to the brewery website, was originally brewed by the monks of the Leffe Abbey. The abbey was flooded in… → Read More
Unibroue Trois Pistoles
Yes, it’s time for another Unibroue beer from those fine Canadian brewers. This is Trois Pistoles, a Belgian Strong Dark Ale. Before we begin, this one gave me a bit of surprise when I was opening it. I removed the cage from around the cork in the bottle but didn’t remove the cork. I turned… → Read More
Shock Top Belgian White
“Live life unfiltered.” That’s the Shock Top slogan, and it’s easy to see why. This Belgian white ale is a cloudy yellow-orange because it’s not filtered before bottling. The brew is made by the Shock Top Brewing Company in Memphis, Tennessee, but further research shows that Shock Top is a subsidiary of Anheuser-Busch. Let’s judge the beer… → Read More
Unibroue Maudite
Maudite, French for “damned” (hence the devil on the bottom of the label), is a Belgian strong ale from those wonderful Canadians at Unibroue. 8% ABV blends in well with the flavors of this ale, consisting of some fruit and spice notes. It also has a note in it that I can’t quite describe but… → Read More
Boulevard Smokestack Series Dark Truth Stout
Boulevard’s Smokestack Series Imperial Stout is made with English malts, German hops and Belgian yeast. Would that mean if it were to be sold in Epcot it could be sold in the UK, Germany and France pavilions? Well probably not since it’s made in Kansas City. The Roasted English malts give this beer a rich… → Read More
New Belgium Brewing Abbey Belgian Style Ale
Pleasantly surprised with this one from New Belgium Brewing. A nice smoky flavor that goes down pretty smooth. I wasn’t expecting to enjoy this as much as I did last night. Definitely a beer I will drink again.
New Belgian Fat Tire
Fat Tire is an amber ale and Lindsay’s self-proclaimed first beer love. It’s a fairly standard amber ale with a hint of spice. Definitely one I could buy a six pack of and have a few at one time. It also just so happened that my TRON and TRON: Legacy Blu-Rays came in the mail… → Read More
Coolest Car Ever!
We stopped at a local beer & wine shop in Maryland and saw this car. Not only was it my favorite color; it even has a tap built in! Shock Top beer is great too!
