A Trip to the Angry Orchard
June 28th, 2012 by Scott in Walt Disney World Beer Reviews
Recently Disney seems to be adding more gluten free options to its selection. The newly-opened Art of Animation Resort has a few gluten free options in its food court Landscape of Flavors. One of these is the hard cider I’m trying tonight: Angry Orchard Hard Cider from Cleveland, OH. Turns out Angry Orchard has a couple of flavors, but Disney serves the Crisp Apple variety.
Angry Orchard Crisp Apple is made with a whole load of apple varieties, including Amere de Berthecourt, Beden, Medaille D’or, Michelin, Binet Rouge, Brairtot Fuji, Golden Delicious, Red Delicious, Joana Gold, Elstar, Granny Smith, Gala, and Braeburn. All those are juiced, blended together and fermented with a white wine yeast. The cider is also wood-aged to increase the complexity of the flavors.
So how is it? Well, it smells and tastes like apples, which should come as no surprise. Sweet and tart are the main notes, with just a hint of booziness. It’s really easy to drink and has a good amount of carbonation. This is a good choice not only for those who are looking to avoid gluten, but anyone looking for a cider to drink.

Hmm that’s an interesting combination. I’m not sure I’ve seen whipped cream flavored vodka before, will have to keep an eye out!

Must try this! Little known tidbit…all ciders are gluten free. At least all the ones I’ve researched! So for all the gluten haters, grab a Strongbow, Magners, or WoodChuck too!

I didn’t know this for a fact but I suspected it. Good tip!

There is a new gluten free beer called Brunehaut that is the best I’ve ever tasted. It is from Belgium and is actually made with barley, so it tastes like beer. Awesome!

Pretty sure this was served mixed with Guinness at a local bar. Interesting, to say the least…
