Julius Echter Hefe Weiss

Next up on the agenda at the House of Brews in NYC was the Julius Echter Hefe Weiss. HUGE HUGE fan of this and I possibly had two of these, don’t really remember. I love me a good wheat beer and this was probably in my Top 3 of all time. Strong clove flavor, slight… → Read More

New Belgium Brewing Abbey Belgian Style Ale

Pleasantly surprised with this one from New Belgium Brewing. A nice smoky flavor that goes down pretty smooth. I wasn’t expecting to enjoy this as much as I did last night. Definitely a beer I will drink again.

Virtual Tasting – Samuel Adams Boston Lager and Kronenbourg 1664

Today we present a new feature on Beers and Ears. Since we are spread across the United States, most of us can’t be in the same place at the same time to have beer tastings. Instead, we decided to have virtual tastings where each of us obtains the beer locally, tries it, writes a little… → Read More

Real Ale Brewing Co. Firemans #4

Light, smooth and a bit of a bready flavor, Firemans #4 from Real Ale is very easy to drink. It would be good to cool off with on a hot summer day. This blonde ale is somewhat similar in flavor to Kona Longboard even though this is an ale while Longboard is a lager.

New Belgian Fat Tire

Fat Tire is an amber ale and Lindsay’s self-proclaimed first beer love. It’s a fairly standard amber ale with a hint of spice. Definitely one I could buy a six pack of and have a few at one time. It also just so happened that my TRON and TRON: Legacy Blu-Rays came in the mail… → Read More

Three Floyds Alpha King Pale Ale

The pale ale offering from this Indiana brewer is quite tasty. Props to @jsabojr for providing the various Three Floyds beers tonight.

Three Floyds – Pride & Joy Mild Ale

Usually I don’t go for a hoppy beer….but this is a decent ale from Indiana brewer Three Floyds.

Kona Brewing Co. Fire Rock Pale Ale

When Scott posted his Kona Longboard review, I realized I never posted about my Kona Fire Rock. Found this at a bar in NYC and knew I had to try it since I’ve seen it at the menu at the Polynesian. It’s a beautiful copper/orange color and slightly sweet. Slightly hoppy with a hint of… → Read More

Kona Brewing Co. Longboard Island Lager

Tonight I’ve brought a little bit of the Polynesian Resort home with me by drinking a Longboard Island Lager from Kona Brewing Co. Light, smooth, and malty best describes this beer. Longboard is very easy to drink, which is probably why it’s a favorite on the beaches of the Poly! Longboard is one of 110… → Read More

Lazy Magnolia Southern Pecan

The other beer I drank at Chimes East was Lazy Magnolia Southern Pecan. Lazy Magnolia is a brewery in Kiln, Mississippi whose brews have started appearing more frequently in Louisiana. Described as a nut brown ale, Lazy Magnolia claims this is the only beer in the world made with whole roasted pecans. Southern Pecan was… → Read More
