Samuel Adams – Irish Red
On this St. Patrick’s Day I had hoped I had a left over Harp in the fridge. No go. BUT…I did have an Irish Red waiting to celebrate the day. It’s a malty ale with a caramel flavor to it.
Kronenbourg 1664
It’s been a looooooonnggg day. I have been working for months on National Bracket Day, to encourage people to fill out brackets today. Been up since 4 am today. So this Kronenbourg is my reward for a hard day, and man is it good. It’s a lighter lager, and very smooth. You can find this… → Read More
Real Ale Sisyphus 2008 and 2010
A couple of weeks ago, Lindsay, Jackie, and I took a trip to the Flying Saucer to complete our portions of a project coming soon to Beers and Ears. After doing so, we all decided to have one more; I chose Sisyphus 2008 by Real Ale Brewing Co. in Blanco, TX. This 10% ABV beer… → Read More
Bedele – Ethiopian Beer at Jiko
Katie and I ate at Jiko last night and I had a chance to try an Ethiopian beer called Bedele. It was light, smooth and had a great flavor. Give it a try if you are there on your next trip!
Abita Ale Turbodog
From the Tambu Lounge at the Polynesian. I’ve never seen this beer before so I thought I’d give it whirl. I wasn’t expecting a dark beer; I typically don’t like dark beers. This one was a pleasant surprise and goes down with a good flavor. I would get this again.
Casa Beer
Find this tasty treat at the Mara at Jambo House at Animal Kingdom Lodge. I enjoyed this beer; the atmosphere of being by Boma (seen in the background) could have helped. Perfect beer for when we were waiting for our room to be ready before hitting the parks.
Abita SOS Pilsner
This 1 pint, 6 oz beer is labeled as “Save Our Shore – A Charitable Pilsner” and $.15 from the sale of every bottle goes to “the rescue and restoration of the environment, industry, and individuals fighting to survive this disastrous oil spill.” Being from the south, I felt it was my duty to… → Read More
Stone Ruination IPA
I had this a week or so ago but hadn’t posted it yet. Quite honestly, Stone overdid it here. This beer is bitter, bitter and more bitter. The hoppy taste lingers seemingly forever. I didn’t find anything in the beer that balanced the extreme bitter taste. To me there’s much better tasting IPAs out there.
BrewDog 5 A.M. Saint
Tonight I’m enjoying a beer called 5 A.M. Saint from a small Scottish brewery known as BrewDog. The bottle refers to the beer as an “iconoclastic amber ale”, meaning that it is trying to destroy established conventions in the beer industry. The side of the label can best be described as a rant against the… → Read More
Widmer Drifter Pale Ale
Finally…my last beer from my January Disney trip! Maybe I can actually catch up on all the other ones soon too. While at the bar waiting for our table at 50’s Prime Time, I had asked the bartender about the empty Drifter bottle on display. The conversation went a little like this: Me: So how’s… → Read More
