Julius Echter Hefe Weiss

Next up on the agenda at the House of Brews in NYC was the Julius Echter Hefe Weiss. HUGE HUGE fan of this and I possibly had two of these, don’t really remember. I love me a good wheat beer and this was probably in my Top 3 of all time. Strong clove flavor, slight… → Read More

Virtual Tasting – Samuel Adams Boston Lager and Kronenbourg 1664

Today we present a new feature on Beers and Ears. Since we are spread across the United States, most of us can’t be in the same place at the same time to have beer tastings. Instead, we decided to have virtual tastings where each of us obtains the beer locally, tries it, writes a little… → Read More

Kona Brewing Co. Fire Rock Pale Ale

When Scott posted his Kona Longboard review, I realized I never posted about my Kona Fire Rock. Found this at a bar in NYC and knew I had to try it since I’ve seen it at the menu at the Polynesian. It’s a beautiful copper/orange color and slightly sweet. Slightly hoppy with a hint of… → Read More

Woodpecker Premium English Cider

Being a big cider fan, it’s usually my drink of choice when I’m not in the mood for Guinness. Woodpecker is definitely up there in my favorites…not overly sweet and can definitely drink a few of these in a night. Has a slight champagne color and great light apple taste. If Strongbow isn’t available, I’ll… → Read More

McSorley’s Black Irish Lager

If anyone comes to NYC to visit, make sure you let me know and I’ll drag you to McSorley’s Old Ale House. It’s a step back in time, sawdust on the floor, good beer, good times, and a must visit for any beer fan. When I saw that they were selling McSorley’s Black Irish Lager… → Read More

Leinenkugel’s Creamy Dark

It’s been a little quiet around here! Awhile back I grabbed a 6-pack sampler and have been too lazy to post any reviews… The Leinenkugel’s Creamy Dark was a decent beer. Unfortunately it didn’t have any distinct quality to make it stand out from any other dark beer. Hint of coffee and chocolate. It was… → Read More

Widmer Drifter Pale Ale

Finally…my last beer from my January Disney trip! Maybe I can actually catch up on all the other ones soon too. While at the bar waiting for our table at 50’s Prime Time, I had asked the bartender about the empty Drifter bottle on display. The conversation went a little like this: Me: So how’s… → Read More

Who wants a Guinness?

Sadly it wasn’t I who drank this beauty, I had to save my liver for the last country of the Drinking Around the World. But I had to take a picture of the lovely executed clover that our fabulous bartender drew. Uhh… even though that’s not the part that’s in focus…. And hopefully next time… → Read More

Black Velvet at Rose & Crown

The winner of the night, and my all time favorite drink when both beers are available… the Black Velvet! Didn’t think we’d make it this far in our adventure but we did! Half Guinness…half cider….in this case it was Strongbow (my favorite). Some people think Guiness is too heavy, others think cider is too sweet…. → Read More

Kronenbourg 1664

Almost done with our adventure… in France? Had to grab a Kronenbourg 1664. Enjoyed this one. Not sure if it was just from our blah experience in Morocco but this was light and slightly sweet. Would get it again…Nice appetizer for the Guinness at our next stop…
