Weihenstephaner Hefe Weissbier

“The World’s Oldest Brewery” boasts the label. Can this be proven without a doubt? Probably not, but Weihenstephan has a good claim. Originally the brewery of the Weihenstephan Abbey, Weihenstephan Brewery can document its existence as far back as the year 768. The abbey’s use as a monastery ended in 1803, but the brewery still produces the flagship Hefe Weissbeer,… → Read More

Anaheim Hefeweizen and Some Carthay Circle Grub

Every trip to Disneyland, at least for me, requires a stop or two at Carthay Circle Restaurant.  Plus the lounge, but that’s for another post.  On our last trip, I was determined to try something I haven’t had before and, in true Jenn fashion, the hefeweizen jumped out at me. According to Anaheim Brewery’s website,… → Read More

Schöfferhofer Grapefruit is Back!

I was walking through World Showcase after dinner at Via Napoli Monday night (more on that later) and wandered into the Germany pavilion next door. Once inside the Germany pavilion I briefly looked over at the stand with the best name in all of Walt Disney World. Seriously, it’s called Bier. It’s so obvious that… → Read More

Today begins American Craft Beer Week, a week-long celebration of the smaller, independent brewers in the United States. Restaurants, bars, and breweries all over the country will be having special events this week to celebrate. Since 1984, the Widmer Brothers have been brewing craft beer in Portland, Oregon. Two years later, the brothers released their… → Read More

Shiner Hefeweizen

Ed reviewed Shiner Hefeweizen (originally called Honey Wheat) back in December and loved it. Since it’s part of the Shiner Family Reunion, now it’s my turn to try this one. It’s a nice shade of golden orange and a bit cloudy; flavors of wheat and lemon are dominant in this beer. It’s fairly light, but… → Read More

Saint Arnold Fancy Lawnmower and Weedwacker

This article started as a review of Weedwacker; however, Weedwacker and Fancy Lawnmower share the same formula except for the yeast used. Having not tasted Lawnmower either, this has turned into a double-fisted review; Lawnmower in one hand and Weedwacker in the other. Let’s start with Fancy Lawnmower, a Kölsch-style beer. It’s golden, crystal clear,… → Read More

Hofbräu Hefe Weizen for the Win!

I’ve always wanted to try a hofbräuhaus beer and I finally got to tonight. I wasn’t disappointed. Anybody that knows me knows that I’m a big fan of hefe weizen. This is one of my favorites. It’s a pretty sweet beer and no bad after taste. It was actually kind of refreshing! I can’t wait… → Read More

Weihenstephaner Hefeweissbier

I might be able to officially proclaim this as my new favorite beer!  I’m a sucker for a GOOD German Weiss beer and this was fabulous.  A little spicy kick but still sweet.  Swore I tasted apricot but it’s just the yummy wheat 🙂 Coming from the World’s Oldest Brewery, I’m guessing they know a… → Read More
