Unibroue 17 Grande Réserve

IMG_4502

The World’s Best Dark Ale. These words not only appear on Unibroue’s website announcing the availability of 17 in the United States but also on the back of the bottle itself. The original batch of 17 was brewed in 2007 for Unibroue’s 17th anniversary. That original batch won many high honors including platinum medals three years in a row at the World Beer Championship. However, in 2010 the same original batch aged three or so years was named the World’s  [ Read More ]

Unibroue La Fin du Monde

Unibroue La Fin Du Monde

Before heading to a Sox game at Fenway, I had a chance to stop by a new bar in Cambridge, The Tap Room. Lots of beers available, over 30 on tap! The first beer I tried was La Fin du Monde brewed by Unibroue of Canada. Scott reviewed this beer previously, check out his review here. La Fin du Monde is a Triple-style golden ale with a 9.0% ABV. I was in love after the first taste. It was very  [ Read More ]

Unibroue La Terrible

IMG_3588

La Terrible is a brew from Unibroue that you won’t find at Walt Disney World. It’s also one of Kim’s favorites. Unlike most of Unibroue’s offerings, this Belgian Dark Strong Ale comes in a simple black bottle with silver markings. It also lacks the story or legend that accompany the other beers in Unibroue’s lineup. This one’s all about the ale within. La Terrible pours nearly pitch black with a large tan head. It has a clean sweet scent with  [ Read More ]

Unibroue Éphémère Blackcurrant

Éphémère Black Currant

We’ve reviewed the most common version of Unibroue Éphémère a couple of times. It’s an ale brewed with apple juice that’s quite tasty. However, we also learned that in Canada Unibroue brews multiple variations of Éphémère with different fruit juices that don’t usually make their way down to the United States. Late last year I found locally a bottle of Éphémère brewed with blackcurrant juice instead of apple juice. However, I’m just now getting around to drinking it. Blackcurrant juice is an ingredient  [ Read More ]

Unibroue Don-de-Dieu

Happy New Year! Longtime readers (can we say that after only a year?) of Beers and Ears know we have an affinity for Unibroue and have reviewed many of their beers. Le Cellier in the Canada pavilion is the unofficial home of Unibroue at Walt Disney World and we continue to lament its lack of availability in the rest of the Canada pavilion, especially after a few were temporarily freed from their Le Cellier bonds for the Food and Wine Festival. Don-de-Dieu  [ Read More ]

Unibroue Blanche de Chambly

IMG_1461

Great news beer lovers! Bob Basl has reported to us that three Unibroue beers are now available outside of Le Cellier at the Canada Beer Cart. The three beers available are Éphémère, Trois Pistoles, and Blanche de Chambly. As with all the Unibroue beers, each one has a story. Traditionally, white ales are supposed be named for the city they are brewed in. Blanche de Chambly is also Unibroue’s original brew; it was created in honor of the militiamen who defended  [ Read More ]
