2015 Epcot Food and Wine Festival Review: Palm Spéciale

Belgium. You’ve heard me complain about the lackluster selection at the Epcot Food and Wine Festival’s Belgium booth for years. For years it’s been fully populated by AB-InBev beers and Disney hasn’t really tried to make it any better, despite Belgium being one of the greatest beer countries in the world. Palm, however, is not… → Read More

Bear Republic Grand-Am American Pale Ale

Some say that Racer 5 and Grand-Am are brewed just for Cars Land… .@traveljenn @DisneylandToday neither are brewed just for Cars Land FYI. They're @BearRepublic products that can be purchased anywhere. — Beers and Ears (@beersandears) May 4, 2015 This ends today’s lesson in “don’t believe everything you read on Twitter”. However, Bear Republic products… → Read More

2015 Flower & Garden Beer Reviews – Take 1

Ready for a long post??? A few weekends ago my friends and I headed over to Epcot to check out the 2015 Flower and Garden Festival that kicked off March 4th.  This and Food & Wine are easily my two favorite times of the year at Epcot, for obvious reasons.  Since I’ve been such a… → Read More

The 2015 Disney Beer Tournament – Championship Round

It’s finally time for two beers to try to bring home the bacon. To be honest, the polls were pretty decisive from the start. These two beers started out in the lead and never relinquished it. Let’s get right to it. First, on the left side of the bracket… Dogfish Head 90 Minute IPA never… → Read More

Lagunitas Little Sumpin’ Wild Ale

Can I have a Christmas do-over? I’ve gotten sick twice since the Wednesday before Christmas (the flu before Christmas and strep throat before the New Year) and have felt like crap for nearly my entire vacation so far. I am feeling better today though. Because of all the medication I’ve been on, I haven’t had… → Read More

Ballast Point Sculpin IPA

Ballast Point’s beer is fairly new to Texas but has been brewing in San Diego for over 15 years. In 1992, Jack White opened Home Brew Mart in San Diego which provided brewing supplies to the homebrewing community in San Diego. By 1996, he and co-founder Yuseff Cherney started brewing Ballast Point beer in the… → Read More

Norther Brewer

Heineken

Aroma:    Not as skunky as I was expecting. Almost no skunky aroma. There is plenty of sweet pale malt aroma with some corn sweetness. Light floral presence in the nose, but if this beer gets too much light those hops oils will convert to skunk. Note, drink fast if you’re outside or the sun… → Read More

Dogfish Head Aprihop

Happy Easter! Each year in the spring Dogfish Head releases Aprihop as its seasonal beer. After dyeing eggs with the kids last night, I sat down and enjoyed one of these. Aprihop isn’t just a beer that should be consumed in the month of April; it’s named for the apricots the beer is brewed with…. → Read More

New Belgium Brewing Abbey Belgian Style Ale

Pleasantly surprised with this one from New Belgium Brewing. A nice smoky flavor that goes down pretty smooth. I wasn’t expecting to enjoy this as much as I did last night. Definitely a beer I will drink again.

St. Bernardus Pater 6

Presenting the fourth and final beer from the St. Bernardus four-pack: Pater 6. I wanted to drink this a lot sooner but I haven’t been feeling great this week. It’s another good one, but this one ranks third out of the four St. Bernardus beers. Abt 12 was my favorite, followed by Prior 8, Pater… → Read More

Beer Fest B!tches!

On Saturday, June 9, 2012, the second annual Houston Beer Fest was held in downtown Houston. I couldn’t make it the first year (Lindsay and Jackie tried to go, more on that in a minute), but this year my schedule was wide open and I was outside of City Hall drinking lots of delicious beer…. → Read More

Beer in the Magic Kingdom?!

UPDATE: Naturally A.J. at Disney Food Blog has the menu. My fears of the AB-InBev beers taking over were unfounded. Here’s the list! Kronenbourg 1664 Hoegaarden Saison Dupont Chimay Blue Original Article: The Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World has had a long-standing policy of no alcohol, but it seems that is about to change. Devil Dog Imperial IPA

And hello. You probably don’t remember me seeing as how my motivation to write blog posts is somewhat like my motivation to clean this house after a party. So you know, not there. As I experiment with other beers instead of relying solely on Lagunitas to fuel my alcoholism, I find that, man, there are… → Read More
