Samuel Adams Winter Lager

Trying to stay away from the typical Bud and/or Miller in the American Adventure Pavilion, we went with the trusty Samuel Adams Seasonal, which was their Winter Lager. I’m a fan of beers that have a slight spice to them and enjoyed this one. Might actually like it better than their Oktoberfest! Paired it with… → Read More

Birra Moretti in Italy

Realized I never finished my adventures around the World so let’s continue! After a disappointing trip to Germany, we stopped at the drink kiosk in Italy to grab a Birra Moretti, not to be confused with their La Rossa brew. We all seemed to enjoy it. Typical lager, in my opinion. I prefer their La… → Read More

Stella Artois

Tonight we decided to eat at the Fish City Grill, a seafood restaurant that somewhat reminds me of home. The beer of the month is Stella, so I decided to have one. I first had Stella in Scotland last year and enjoyed it. The beer came filled to the brim without any head at all;… → Read More

Bass Ale

Scott prodded me, so here’s my 3rd beer of the evening, a Bass Ale. My first Bass was at the Harry Ramsden’s fish and chips shop in World Showcase. It was not my last. I don’t usually like Pale Ales, but Bass is different. It is one of my backups with any situation. When I… → Read More

Sapporo fireside

Second beer from the sampler is Sapporo, a favorite from Japan. We decided to sit outside in this nice weather, and enjoy a fire. I first ran across Sapporo at the Japan pavilion at Epcot, and loved it. Great with some sushi!

Beer Sampler night

It’s a good night in our house, as I stopped at Publix on the way home and picked up a 6 pack beer sampler. The idea is that they have single bottles of different beers, and you pick your own sixpack. So I did. My first selection was a Warsteiner, a beer I love. It’s… → Read More

Boddingtons Pub Ale

The other night I tried Boddingtons Pub Ale, one of the featured beers at the Rose and Crown in Epcot’s United Kingdom Pavilion.  However, as you can see above, Boddingtons packages its beer in cans to sell at the store.  This isn’t just any can, however.  Inside the can is beer pressurized by nitrogen and… → Read More

Samuel Smith’s Nut Brown Ale

The second beer I picked up this week to try is Samuel Smith’s Nut Brown Ale.  It’s a British beer that certainly lives up to its name.  Just over a pint of a very nutty brown ale with a nice bitterness that stays on the palate long after the sip has passed.  I would definitely… → Read More

Widmer Brothers Drifter Pale Ale

Earlier today I picked up a couple of new beers; the first one I’m trying is Widmer Brothers Drifter.  Although it’s classified as a pale ale, it’s fairly dark but extremely clear.  Drifter has a very strong grapefruit scent and the citrus theme continues once sipped.  It’s not too sweet and has a nice bitter… → Read More

App Review: Untappd

I never thought I would be doing an app review for Beers and Ears, but here we are.  Untappd, to put it simply, is Foursquare for beer.  Honestly, this is something I was hoping GetGlue would have added a long time ago; GetGlue currently tracks wine check-ins but not beer.  However, Untappd is a more… → Read More

Ommegang Three Philosophers

Someone recently asked us whether Ommegang Three Philosophers is available at Walt Disney World, so when I saw it at the store recently I decided to pick a bottle up! Three Philosophers is available at WDW, but only at Il Mulino in the Swan. Ommegang Brewery is based in Cooperstown, NY, better known for the… → Read More

St. George Beer

Last drink at Dawa Bar (don’t worry, we spaced these over 2 days) was St. George Beer.  The brewery is located in Ethiopia, NOT to be confused with the brewery of the same name in Virginia.  There is no official website though so I couldn’t pull up any additional information to wow you guys with…. → Read More

Firestone Walker Double Jack

Firestone Walker is another brewery whose beers are new to Texas this year; not long after their debut, I picked up a bottle of Double Jack, a double IPA. At this time, Walt Disney World doesn’t serve any Firestone Walker beers, but Disneyland serves Double Barrel Ale (DBA) at the Sonoma Terrace and Carthay Circle…. → Read More

Samuel Adams Brewmasters Collection: Blackberry Witbier

Tonight’s beer is part of Samuel Adams’ Brewmasters Collection. Blackberry Witbier is an underwhelming brew in my opinion. It reminds me of Abita’s Purple Haze but with less flavor. Yes, Purple Haze is made with raspberries and this is made with blackberries, but the beers are very similar. Still, I’d grab a Purple Haze long… → Read More

Samuel Adams Coastal Wheat

Tonight’s beer is a Samuel Adams Coastal Wheat.  I picked up a six pack of these a while back on Ed’s recommendation but it’s been a while since I cracked one.  It fills up my pilsner glass rather well with a nice tall head.  Coastal Wheat is a decent wheat ale with lemon, but its… → Read More

Abita 25th Anniversary Vanilla Doubledog

It’s no secret I’m a big fan of Abita. One reason is that like Abita, I was born and raised in Louisiana. I didn’t like beer before I started drinking Abita Amber, and over the years since the Abita brewery has given me plenty of different beers to try, including Purple Haze, Jockamo IPA, and… → Read More

Lagunitas Brown Shugga’ (2013)

How come you taste so good? Just in time for Thanksgiving, the wonderful concoction known as Brown Shugga’ has returned to ensure you are well-lubricated for all the family gatherings. Because let’s be honest, when you’re fielding tons of questions about everything and anything and listening to the chatter around the table, a 9.9% ABV… → Read More

The Beers and Ears Walt Disney World Beer List iPhone App!

In a secret lab at an undisclosed location (not really, but it sounds cool), we’ve been hard at work. Now we’re ready to reveal a secret that’s been kept better than the iPhone 4 (despite our love for beer, this secret wasn’t left in a bar) . We’ve created an iPhone app that puts our… → Read More
